Goal Statement:
The proposed Natural Sciences Corridor (NSC) will be theepitome of activity oriented spaces and will integrate with the surroundinguniversity grounds to become a premier academic space: Held up as an example towhich all other state campuses will aspire. The NSC will meet the needs of the users, the client and the local municipality. It will excel in the application andinterpretation of sustainable campus design. The NSC will consist ofmultifunctional and flexible outdoor spaces and The NSC will attract users fromall over campus and from the community at large by being relevant to theirneeds and exceeding their expectations. While being innovative it will also honorestablished university guidelines, regional context and the environment.
Objectives:
· Comfortable, year-round spaces for the pursuitof academics, private gathering, opportunistic meetings, eating, playing and otherwisepursuing college life.
· The NSC will be accessible, safe and secure forits users. It will provide for emergency vehicle access. The NSC will provide conflictfree access for all forms of non-vehicular traffic as well as all maintenance,service and delivery personnel and their vehicles.
· Circulation through the site will encouragepositive interactions and minimize conflicts while linking itself to thesurrounding campus’ matrix of other corridors, buildings, malls and plazas.
· The details, themes and materials will besensitive to the culture and appropriate to the desert environment.
· Greens will contribute to the campus wide rainwater harvesting program and stand as the best example of publicly interpretedurban wildlife enhancement in the state.
· The NSC will be a symbol of the Universitycommitment to renewable energy sources.
